The Independence Visitor Center Corporation is excited to announce the return of the PHLASH Downtown Loop for the 2012 season, starting this Friday, May 4.

An invaluable amenity for both visitors and locals, PHLASH is the quickest way to travel from the Historic District to the Parkway to the Zoo and Please Touch Museum.

As James J. Cuorato, President and CEO of the IVCC, put it, “It puts everything Philadelphia has to offer within reach.”

Starting May 4, the PHLASH begins weekend service on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Beginning on Memorial Day, May 28, PHLASH will run seven days a week through Labor Day. PHLASH service in September and October will return to weekend service until October 28.

From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. with service every 15 minutes, the PHLASH makes 19 stops between Penn’s Landing, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Philadelphia Zoo. Brand new stops include Eastern State Penitentiary, Sister Cities Park Café & Visitor Center (opening May 10), and 16th Street and the Parkway. There will also be a stop at 22nd Street and the Parkway serving the Rodin Museum and the new Barnes Foundation.

Fares are just $2 per single ride, and kids under 6 and seniors ride free. The all-day PhlashPass is also available, with an individual all-day pass for $10 and a family all-day pass for $15 (two adults, two children ages 6-17).

Below, we’ve included the PHLASH route. Happy sightseeing!
